Spent the day yesterday looking through my Momma's recipes and reminiscing on days spent in her kitchen. My Momma taught me everything about cooking, and making a home. One the recipes pictured is for my Grandaddy's Brunswick stew, oh the memories that brought back!! My Grandma would have a house full, tables were in every room and even on the back porch just so everyone had a seat to sit and visit and enjoy dinner. Never forget the certain smell their house had and believe me it was mostly food smells that I can still remember to this day.

Yesterday I started my day off soaking the chicken legs in a mixture of  buttermilk and hot sauce and a little onion powder. I started some potatoes in the crockpot for mashed potatoes so I would be able to put my full attention on the chicken when it was time to fry. Then I made a pecan pie for dessert and had that baking while making the rest of dinner. When it was time to fry the chicken I made a mixture of seasoned flour, pepper, and corn starch to coat the chicken legs and then began to fry them in a big saute pan.

After dinner we enjoyed a slice of warm pecan pie and it was so yummy! The fried chicken was something I learned how to make from my grandma and my momma, and well my momma was always known for the best pecan pie 🥧 So Yesterday was such a wonderful day in the kitchen with lots of memories to recreate.

Today I am sitting here enjoying a piece of pecan pie and a cup of coffee ☕️ while I am writing this blog. Love afternoon pick me ups ❤
